On June 11th, in the parking lot of Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha’s Ciudad Real campus in Spain, bystanders witnessed a man throw two dogs out of his vehicle. His license plate was covered so the police investigation is still on going.
The two dogs, Riaz and Tierra, were malnourished, dehydrated, and carried various infections.
The two young dogs are now in the care of Protectora La Bienvenida, an animal rescue group in Ciudad Real. Ana Robles Pérez, a spokesperson for the rescue group said, “The first days they preferred to stay alone, without people. Now, when they see their [caregiver], they move their tails!”
Abused dogs run a long path of recovery, from mental rebuilding as well as physical therapy.
The rescue group plans on having them fostered and possibly adopted by a safe family in Spain. While the story of Raiz and Tierra has created more attention for abused dogs in the area, a third dog was found in the same place and it’s assumed the same abusive owner dropped this third dog there as well.
This video shows all three of the dogs behaving better, while being more open to human interaction. Hopefully they all meet a speedy recovery in the hands of people so caring.
