Prospect Park is the most popular park in all of Brooklyn, bringing in hundreds of guests daily. This off leash park sports sprawling fields, swimming holes, and beautiful pathways. Dogs of all shapes and sizes can be seen running free, while parents sit and enjoy the sun.

The dogs are all well behaved, many of which grew up playing at Prospect Park. During the summer months, a separate area of the water is fenced off for a dog swimming zone.

2. McCarren Park

Location: 780 Lorimer St., Brooklyn, NY.

The McCarren Dog Park is best known for it’s cleanliness. Rated the cleanest dog park in the area, this park is well maintained and pet parent approved. The park is covered by overhanging trees, making it a cool choice for pups looking to beat the heat.

Many parents appreciate this fully enclosed fenced run, as well as the separate “Small Dog” area. There are plenty of water bowls and jugs of fresh water available. The park even has community toys for the dogs to play with.

3. Fort Greene Park

Location: Myrtle Ave. and DeKalb Ave., Brooklyn, NY.

Fort Greene Park is one of Brooklyn’s most historic landmarks, and is over 30 acres. As Brooklyn’s first park, it boasts gorgeous scenery of rolling hills and healthy trees. The park is also known for the many events held there, as well as amenities like basketball courts, tennis courts, play grounds, and, of course, the dog park.

4. Hillside Park

Location: Columbia Heights and Middagh St., Brooklyn, NY.

Nestled between Brooklyn Heights neighborhood, and Brooklyn Bridge Park, Hillside Park is one of the most appealing parks in the area. The park is completed fenced, and contains a “small dog” area separated from the main pen. There are many trees, plenty of shade, and even benches and tables for humans to enjoy. 5. McGorlick Park Dog Run

Location: 142 Driggs Ave., Brooklyn, NY.

Status: Off Leash

This smaller park is fully fenced, and supports off leash playtime. Many local dogs visit this park daily, making it a fun and friendly environment for everyone. The fence is lined with humorous signs with quotes like, “If your dog has a party, they must invite all other dogs at the park.”

There is a separate fenced run for smaller dogs, providing safe play for the more fragile pups. There is also adequate seating for humans, including benches and tables, though most of them are occupied by furry friends. McGorlick Park is perfect for pup parents living in this urban neighborhood.

Shore Road Park is one of Brooklyn’s most stunning green spaces. Complete with a bike run, basketball courts, playgrounds, tennis courts, showers, etc., Shore Road Park has everything one could want from a public space.

The best part about the park, is the fully fenced dog run. The dog run is isolated from the main road, running along the bike path. This makes it a more quiet space for dog parents to enjoy.
