5 Things To Know About Fireworks And Your Dog

In the end, you just need to remember that fireworks may be fun for you and your family, but they are most likely terrifying for your dog. Find a way to make your dog as comfortable as possible and then have some fun.

With various summer holidays rapidly approaching, it will soon be time to break out those fireworks to help celebrate. Sadly for a lot of our canine friends, fireworks are a terrifying experience. They want to run and hide from the loud, unexpected noise of fireworks.

It is because of this that so many dogs go missing on holiday weekends like Independence Day weekend.

There are precautions you can take to keep your dog safe and reduce the likelihood of he or she taking off.

1. Make sure your dog gets a lot of exercise that day

A tucked out dog is more likely to sleep through those loud ol’ fireworks.

2. Don’t bring your dog to the fireworks. In fact, keep your dog inside during any shows.

Your dog is far more likely to get loose and take off if it is outside.

3. Make sure your dog’s tags are current.

If you absolutely must bring your dog, please be sure to have current tags. If your dog takes off, we all want it to find its way back to you.

4. If your dog wants to hide, let it.

Maybe even create some safe spaces for your pooch to hide.

5. Keep your front/back/side doors closed
