When you’re trying to plan the perfect treat for your pup you should take into consideration their personality and what they love most. Here are 5 great pick me ups you can choose from to suit your dog’s personality.

1. For the outdoorsy dog: a rugged adventure

For dogs that have lots of energy and love being outdoors and smelling all the things, going on a hike is a really great way to treat them. Bonus if you can hike to a nice viewpoint, or to a lake or waterfall is especially nice if your pup loves water. Bringing a small picnic is a nice way to break up the hike, and make sure to pack water and treats for both you and your dog to replenish your energy before hiking back to the car.

2. For the social dog: a dog park extravaganza

For dogs that are social butterflies, there’s nothing more exciting than getting to hang out with and play with other dogs. If you know your dog does well off-leash around other pups this is a great way to treat them to a fun afternoon. Bringing some fun dog toys to share with other pups there is always a good idea too.

3. For the gluttonous dog: snacks, snacks, snacks!

Every dog loves food, and it’s always a really great way to reward your pup. Some great ideas are, giving them a delicious piece of good quality meat instead of the usual dog food, an awesome new chewy treat, or even homemade dog treats customized to your dog’s favorite food. There are countless recipes online, so it’s easy to choose the protein that is your dog’s favorite, and tailor the recipe to them for an extra special snack.

4. For the playful dog: game of bones

Grab a new squeaky toy, a rope for some tug-of-war, and some tennis balls for a good play time! Some dogs just want to run around and be silly and play with you. They can fetch for hours, they can be picked up my their teeth when you’re playing tug-of-war with the rope, they go crazy for a squeaky toy and go bonkers over it until they rip it up and “kill it.” These dogs want nothing more than to play with you all day long.

5. For the lazy dog: Netflix and chill.

For dogs that just want to snuggle up and take naps and get pets, having some good quality time together is incredibly important. In fact, even the outdoorsy and athletic dogs will benefit from this one once you’ve tired them out on a walk or play session. Put on one of the Netflix movies or shows starring dogs, grab a snuggly blanket, make some popcorn and make with the belly rubs. Dogs With Jobs, Fox and the Hound, and The Adventures of Milo and Otis are all on US Netflix for you and your dog’s viewing pleasure.
