5 Ingredient Homemade Dog Biscuits

These five ingredient dog biscuits are sugar free and completely edible for humans...in case your canine feels like sharing.

So, here’s the thing. I am super domestic. I love baking cookies and pies, and scrolling through Pinterest to find the best seasonal recipes for our family dinners. When my daughters’ birthdays roll around, I deck out the house in DIY crafts and bake delicious homemade cakes. But what about our dog? It occurred to me that everything I’ve ever given my super sweet pup was store bought. Not that there is anything wrong with store bought. Believe me, I’m all about being a pre-packaged mom when the time calls for it. However, I decided that today would be the day I put my domestic hat on and bake something delicious for the neighborhood fur babies. There’s nothing like a freshly-baked cookie!

The Ingredients

Flour, oats, all natural (no sugar added) peanut butter, egg, and banana baby food!

Step 1: Mix pre-measured ingredients in a large bowl

Just dump it all in!

Step 2: Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface

Roll out dough until it is about 1/3 inch thick.

Step 3: Cut dough into pieces with a cookie cutter, and place on a greased pan

Now would not be the time to let your dog steal a taste since the batter contains raw egg.

Step 4: Bake at 300 degrees F for 20-22 minutes

After the timer goes off, let the cookies sit in the oven until cool to the touch. The extra warmth will dehydrate them for better storage. Place cookies on a cooling rack to ensure they are fully cooled before putting them in a storage container.

Step 5: Eat!

Step 6: Store cookies in an airtight container for up to 1 week

Ingredients:

1 cup flour

½ cup quick oats

½ cup peanut butter

1 small package of banana baby food

1 egg

Yields 34 small cookies or 17 large cookies, depending on size of cookie cutter.

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 300 degrees F (149 degrees C) .

  1. Mix all ingredients in a large bowl
  2. Press mixture into a ball and place on a lightly floured surface.
  3. Roll out dough until it is about ⅓ inch thick.
  4. Cut dough into pieces with a cookie cutter and place on a greased pan.
  5. Bake in preheated oven for 20-22 minutes. Then, turn oven off and let cookies rest in oven until cooled. This allows the cookies to dehydrate for better storage.
